Hello!
We are a small funded startup with large customers in Union Square. The founders are Wall Street luminaries, and the CTO has been a part of 5 other successful startups. The rest of the tech team has serious experience in financial applications, social media, and publishing. We are looking for a sysadmin / operations / security lead for our LAMP-based application. Due to our business model, scaling and performance isn`t as much of an issue as is security and correctness.
We have a "reasonable start" on our operations infrastructure (nagios, puppet, ganglia, basics of linux admin, apache, etc), but we really need someone to own it (or rebuilt it) and lead us through security audits, as well as making our system robust and stable. And since this is a startup there is a whole host of other projects that need doing.
You:
* Linux admin. Yup. You know it . We are using Ubuntu 9.04 server but could change to CentOS if you think that is best.
* Know bash inside and out, and live to automate.
* Basics of Mysql admin would be sweet
* As mentioned we are using Nagios, Ganglia, and Puppet, which has pluses and minuses. Happy to switch to another toolset if you have expertise in them.
And you`ll get bonus points for:
* surviving security audits before
* surviving a previous startup
* know a smattering of php, python or perl
* managing outside contractors
We could give a laundry list of programs and terms, and technology but we`ll spare you. We can tell you more in the interview!
